Enhanced ADHD Assessment with our Lead Consultant, Dr Kripalani
This new bespoke service will allow clients a more in-depth bio-psycho-social understanding of their presentation. The model will allow time for a more thorough, rigorous, and ultimately, a holistic assessment and treatment service.
The assessment and treatment appointment times will be longer than our standard times, lasting approximately 120-135 minutes for the assessment and 35-40 minutes for follow up appointments.
This will include a free QBCheck (test) which is to be completed prior to the initial assessment. The test involves motion tracking systems and computerised tasks that requires continuous attention and impulse control. As a result, the test provides data on core symptoms of ADHD; hyperactivity, impulsivity and inattention. The test is validated for adults under 60 years of age, with each test taking 15-20 minutes. The QbCheck is not designed to be a stand-alone tool for the diagnosis of ADHD. Rather, it contributes data-driven insights into the presence or absence of ADHD symptoms when interpreted alongside other clinical data like subjective information, clinical interview, and validated rating scales. Further information on the QbCheck can be found at https://www.adhdcentre.co.uk/qb-check/.
The extra time will also allow for a more detailed consideration of the social aspects of functioning, with reference to ADHD symptomatology and other co-occurring conditions. In this way, you will work together with your doctor to bring about a balance and harmony between the different areas of your life such as work, home, relationships, and social life. There will be more time to consider and understand the psychological factors that have been important in the development of your ADHD symptomatology, throughout your life span and how this has led to emergent personality traits.
With the additional time for follow up appointments, it allows for the completion of specific psychiatric scales to assess important holistic parameters, such as quality of life measurements, residual ADHD symptoms and potential side effects from medication treatment to fine tune management.
This comprehensive assessment will enable a more detailed psychiatric formulation to be developed, specifically guiding treatment options and maximise the effectiveness of your individual treatment plan. The overall result will be a greater understanding of yourself in relation to your ADHD symptoms, how to harness the strengths from your ADHD, as well as how to work to overcome some of the challenges.
At the treatment stage, there will also be the opportunity to undergo additional genetic testing (subject to an additional charge) to fine tune medication options and harness latest evidence-based guidance to enhance outcomes.
Shared decision making will be the cornerstone of care and a true partnership is envisaged to unlock your potential.
