Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD):
Children with ADHD

Some things may be normal among children, such as lack of attention, being forgetful or getting fidgety and hyperactive, these can also be the presenting symptoms of ADHD. This may lead to challenges for the child at home and school affecting their learning ability and ability to get along with other children.

To cope with the issue of having ADHD in a child, parents must first get to know how to distinguish the symptoms of ADHD. Symptoms of ADHD usually emerge before the child reaches seven years old. Sometimes, these signs may appear similar to other childrens’ behaviour. As parents, observing the behaviour your child shows at different situations is vital in addressing what bothers them and telling if it is ADHD or not.

There are three types of ADHD according to the presentation of its symptoms. ADHD Children may be:

  • Inattentive, yet not hyperactive or impulsive
  • Impulsive and hyperactive, but attentive
  • Combined type: Inattentive, impulsive, and hyperactive (the most common form of ADHD)
